After receiving my undergraduate degree from Columbia University, I initially pursued my love of music, my instrument the trombone. Moving to rural Umbria, Italy, for a year, I joined two village bands. Upon my return to San Francisco, I pursued a career as a professional trombonist in salsa, jazz orchestra, and funk bands around the Bay Area for 12 years before entering law school. I had fantastic fun picking the trombone up again in a band of co-elementary school parents for several years, and definitely plan to return to playing when our kids head off to college.
It astonishes me that I’ve been a San Francisco resident for 28 years. My proudest accomplishment is being the father of two native San Franciscans, now both teenagers. We as a family try to take advantage of the Bay Area’s rich offerings in the Arts, food, and the Northern California coastal beauty. When not lawyering, I cook, bake, read, and birdwatch, and travel with the kids and my wife Rani at any opportunity.
